Hello, friends! During our autumn trip, we lived in the Gorki Gorod resort. It's time to tell how the level of 540 meters differs from 960 meters and where it is better to book accommodation.

Before the trip, I specifically consulted with experienced travelers so as not to miss. All the same, there were 6 of us on the trip, including a four-month-old baby. Now I have my own opinion 🙂

Gorki Gorod is the first resort on the route from Sochi. This is an impressive complex with an infrastructure of hotels, apartments, cafes, cable car, shops and equipment rental. During the Olympics, journalists covering the sporting event lived in Gorki Gorod.

The lower level of the resort is at the level of 540 m, and the upper level is at the level of 960 m. In fact, there are still 1500 and 2200 meters, but these are observation decks with cafes, so we will consider only 540 and 960.

Slides City 540 meters

The first thing you pay attention to in Gorki Gorod is the architecture of the resort. The project was developed by two architects - Mikhail Filippov (540m) and Mikhail Atayants (960m) with the participation of the Frenchman Pierre Diener, who had a hand in Courchevel. The architects drew their creative ideas from the Middle Ages and wanted to create a city at that time.

The central square, where the cable car station is located, has a semicircular shape and is very similar to an amphitheater, which overlooks the mountains and the Mzymta River. The residential part is isolated from the highway, which is very convenient for pedestrians.

The town's main promenade is a favorite spot for an evening stroll. Left - Gorky Mall shopping center, right - apartments. On the ground floor there are shops and cafes. There is a small market in front of the shopping center, where there is a brisk trade in various tourist goods.

In the evening, during a walk, we reached the casino, but did not go inside. They just stared. I somehow did not think over the option with a "tuxedo and bow tie")).

And this is Masha and I showing off on our morning walk. It's amazing how few moms use a sling. Basically, everyone hangs out with strollers.

The main advantage of GG 540 m, in my opinion, is the presence of a large shopping center with a Crossroads, a cinema and a bowling alley. Since housing in the form prevails at the lower level of the resort, the issue of buying products is especially relevant. Well, and even the lower level itself is larger and more ambitious.

Here is a view of the Mzymta embankment opens from the cable car. Surprisingly, this part of GG 540 is the least populated. The main crowd around the shopping center.

There are only two hotels in GG 540 - Gorki Plaza 4 * and Marriott Krasnaya Polyana 5 *. Summer is great to live in the Marriott, it has an outdoor pool. I read that guests of Gorki Gorod can visit the pool for a fee, but I myself have not personally checked this possibility.

Where to eat in Gorki Gorod 540m?

A relatively inexpensive meal in Gorki Gorod 540 can be found in the Pechka and Ugli cafe. These are a la luxury dining rooms. Salads for 70-80 rubles, soup - 150 rubles, the second - 150 rubles. The average bill is 250-300 rubles per person. In Pechka, Russian cuisine prevails, and in Uglyakh - a menu with a Caucasian bias.

Harats Pub serves a pretty good business lunch from 12.00 to 17.00. For 270 rubles, you can choose two dishes (soup, main course or salad). There are three types of each dish on the menu, so you won't get bored quickly. Breakfasts in Harats from 8.00 to 11.00 (230 rubles). The price tag is very similar to the Stove, but at least there is service.

The Verona restaurant offers breakfasts for 150 rubles, there is children's menu... In general, I recommend going to cafes / restaurants and looking at special offers. Surely they change from season to season. I can say for sure that almost every cafe offers something as a bonus - a bun for coffee, beer for a main course, etc.

We mostly ate at Harats Pub and at home. Products were bought at Perekrestok and Agrocomplex (the store is located opposite the shopping center). And there and there ready meals, so you don't have to bother with cooking. You can simply reheat food and make a salad.

Slides City 960 meters

The Upper Town has a completely different mood. The architecture follows the lines of antiquity, the buildings look more respectable, and the town itself is much smaller in area.

The scale of the town is clearly visible from the cable car. Close-up on the right - Gorki Gorod 960, and far below and to the left - Gorki Gorod 540 meters.

During our walk it was pretty deserted here. But what kinds! Guests of the GG 960 can relax in a sun lounger and contemplate the mountains.

By the way, nobody checks the card key, so anyone can privatize the sun lounger and relax.

At the level of 960 m, the cable car bifurcates. One branch leads up to the Black Pyramid peak, and the second - to the Polikarya waterfall. Above 960 meters, you can only go by paying for a ski pass.

The cable car connects the levels. With the key card from the room, you can go there and back as many times as you like for free. Also, an asphalt road leads to 960m, and in the evening, late guests are brought up by a bus. If you do not live in Gorki Gorod, then you can go upstairs only for a fee. Please note that when you check into the 960m level, you can take the cable car without a key card for free if you present a security voucher for accommodation.

There are already many more hotels and fewer apartments in YY 960. Hotels of the 960 m level: Gorki Hotel 5 *, Gorki Hotel Suites 5 *, Dolina 960 4 *, Rixos Krasnaya Polyana 5 *, Gorki Panorama 4 * (excellent hotel with a swimming pool), Gorki Grand 3 *, Gorki Art (a nice hotel with an unusual interior). As you can see, elite housing predominates on the upper level of Gorki Gorod.

So, which is better - Gorki Gorod 540 or 960?

Let's break it down point by point:

• If you want action, nightlife, festivities, noisy get-togethers in a cafe - choose GG 540m. Well, or you can live in GG 960, and come off at the lower level. Then you need to consider in advance the options for a late return to the hotel. The cable car is closed at night.
• If you like a relaxing holiday, you want peace, nature and the purest mountain air, then GG 960m is waiting for you.
• If you come to Gorki Gorod with children, then I recommend the lower level. It has a great playground, a shopping mall with a play area and many more dining options.
• If you choose a more economical accommodation option for yourself, then this is definitely GG 540m.
• Slides City 540 or 960 can be chosen exclusively because of the hotel. For example, you definitely need a spa complex. Then this is the Gorki Panorama hotel. Do you want to while away the time by the outdoor pool in the summer? Then choose the Marriott at 540m.
• If you plan to spend time actively and explore other resorts besides Gorka Gorod, then it is more convenient to rent housing at the level of 540m. The motorway runs below. It is here that taxi drivers hang out and public transport runs. Of course, you can always take a cable car ride down or call a taxi, but it will be a little longer and a little more expensive.

Rosa Khutor resort

This is a suitable place for both large companies and families with children and young couples. Musicians regularly perform here, DJs play their own sets, and interesting master classes are held.

The name of the restaurant "Grusha" was not chosen by chance. Circassian pear, along with chestnut or fern, is rightfully the hallmark of the region. Therefore, the restaurant menu, thanks to the chef, includes original dishes, which include this fruit.

Local products, menus for every taste, branded burgers and shanks from Old Boys, craft beer own production, desserts from the pastry chef and a pleasant atmosphere - this is a suitable place both for large companies and for families with children and young couples.

In addition, there is a wide range of Russian wines from the best winemakers of the Krasnodar Territory and Crimea.

It is nice to sit near the Town Hall on Rosa Khutor in the Luciano restaurant. If you are a fan of Italian and European cuisine in general, you will love it here. Delicious coffee, a cozy summer terrace with comfortable sun loungers and a beautiful view of the mountains - everything here is conducive to a pleasant stay.

The prices are moderate (500-1000 rubles per person). Service is pretty fast.

Do not be confused by the word "cafe" in the name of this establishment - this is a real restaurant with an appropriate price level (1500 - 2000 rubles per person), an interesting interior, an unusual combination European and Pan-Asian cuisine, as well as branded night parties with sets of the best DJs.

The menu includes Mediterranean salads, grilled meats, popular Mexican snacks, American fresh burgers, as well as delicious traditional desserts prepared by our own pastry shop. Geographically, this restaurant does not belong to the Rosa Khutor resort, or any other resort, but is located exactly in the middle between all the resorts, but not far from the Rosa Khutor railway station. So I brought it here.

So, the restaurant "Cascade". Even one glance at the beautiful area with gazebos, bridges, waterfalls and a boat in the canal is enough to make you want to stay here.

In this place you will be delighted with all kinds of barbecue (meat, fish, vegetable), and also, according to guests, the best khachapuri in Glade is baked here. The prices are quite reasonable, the waiters are efficient.

Gorki Gorod resort

The resort is replete with numerous establishments where you can eat deliciously. On the main promenade, the restaurant signs will scatter your eyes, and the flavors will be one more delicious than the other.

MEDORA restaurant

This restaurant is a 2-minute walk from the lower station of the main cable car. The menu includes dishes of modern Russian cuisine, as well as a large selection of seafood. There is a hookah. You can watch sports broadcasts. These are the pros.

Of the minuses: a slightly dark interior (however, not for everybody), and ... it's expensive here, damn it! Average check - from 2,000 rubles. But I had tourists who even left 5000 per brother here ... So, if show-offs are not more expensive than money, you can find a place for gatherings in Gorki Gorod that is cheaper and more interesting.

Tavern "Sirtaki"

Enjoying food, music, dancing, and life itself - this is all of Greece! I love this country for its beauty and hospitality, as well as the ability to make an awesome dish from simple products... The philosophy of this country is reflected in the sirtaki dance.

The Sirtaki tavern is a piece of sunny Greece in the Gorki Gorod resort. Here you will be fed tasty and cheaper than in other establishments of the same level (the average bill is about 1000 rubles). What is nice - there is a special children's menu.

The portions are decent. The staff are very nice and friendly. In general, make sure to devote one evening to this tavern - good memories are guaranteed.

RIDER BAR Restaurant

Since this establishment is located right next to our sales office, I had the chance to sample the local cuisine more than once. In general, this institution is ideal both for relaxing with a large group of friends and for a family dinner with children. The spacious summer veranda offers a picturesque view of the mountains.

The menu includes fish and seafood dishes, steaks, pasta, salads, appetizers, first courses, burgers and signature desserts of our own production. There is a children's menu, as well as special offers and discounts for regular guests and tourist groups.

Again, the word "bar" in the title shouldn't confuse you. The thing is that the restaurant is located right next to the cable car, and therefore this word should attract the attention of the public, tired from skiing, who wants to eat and drink something urgently. And the choice of drinks here is impressive: branded liqueurs with fruits and berries, more than 10 types of mulled wine, beer, cocktails ...

Oh yes! And there is also a professional hookah in this establishment. I didn’t try it myself (as a staunch supporter of healthy lifestyle), but the reviews of my friends were only positive.

PETERSBURG Restaurant

This restaurant is located right next to the previous establishment and also deserves close attention.

The menu combines Russian and Italian dishes. Russian cuisine: royal fish soup, delicate pies, dumplings, baked fish, fried mushrooms and the magical Guryev porridge, which is cooked for more than 4 hours and languishes on a live fire. Connoisseurs of European dishes will find in our menu Italian pizza from a wood-fired oven, all kinds of pasta and risotos, stewed steaks, French dessert Macorons, as well as noble wines from Tuscany, Spain, Chile.

The guests of the resort, living in apartments and hotels of the Gorki chain at an elevation of +540 m, can use the Room Service - round-the-clock restaurant room service. Delivery of food and drinks is carried out à la carte. Delivery will cost 200 rubles.

Fans italian pasta and pizzas - here for you! Although in general the cuisine is European.

Very pleasant place, good and fast service, comfortable tables outside with a view of the cable car and the mountains.

Pkhali-Khinkali restaurant

This institution is very conveniently located directly opposite the exit from the Gornaya Karusel lift. No matter how much I pass by, there are always people at the tables. Perhaps just because the prices are more democratic than in neighboring restaurants.

Cuisine - Eastern European, Armenian, Georgian. Reviews about the level of cuisine and service can be found bad. and good ones. Personally, during my visit, everything was fine for me: the dishes were well prepared, and the portions were rather big, and the waiters worked quite tolerably.

The restaurant consists of a covered veranda and a main hall. The interior does not make an indelible impression, but it is quite cozy.

The name itself promises you that it will be soulful, tasty and colorful. And although this season the institution slightly increased its prices and apparently lost part of its target audience, but in general, the quality and authenticity Uzbek dishes at a very good level. The interior is quite ordinary. The average bill is 700-1500 rubles.

Kikel Restaurant

Sometimes this establishment is classified as a cafe. But for the prices, I would not say that. They are quite tall. There are many Georgian dishes on the menu

The establishment is conveniently located close to the road. Don't rely on an exquisite interior - it is quite simple. In general, this place is not for show-off, but for those tourists who like to eat deliciously, without showing off, of high quality and inexpensive.

And it’s not difficult to find this establishment: from the “Daiva” store, walk along the internal (not the main) road for another 100 meters to the left, towards Polyana, along the private sector, and on the right side you will see the wooden building of the restaurant.

Krasnaya Polyana

There are simply countless restaurants in Polyana itself! Even just listing them will take a lot of time. Therefore, I will again name you the most popular and colorful, where I myself like to be.

Tavern "Trikoni"

This iconic restaurant in Krasnaya Polyana is a must-see for all mountain lovers. He was accommodated in a cozy wooden chalet, next to the "Mountain Air" bus stop.

This is a place with a long history, and at the same time, alive and in step with the times. The authentic interior, the warmth and comfort of the fireplace, live music in the evenings - I really liked it here from the very first time. The cuisine is delicious, the portions are large. The prices are reasonable (the average check per person is from 600 to 1000 rubles.)

They work from early morning (8:00) until 23:00.

Dynasty Restaurant

Honestly, I got to this place by accident - while they drove my car to change the oil in the car service opposite, I had to go somewhere and pass the time. We went to the "Dynasty", tk. she turned out to be across the street and the sign indicated quite adequate prices for coffee ...

As it turned out, in this institution you can not only sit with a cup of coffee, but also have a large-scale snack. Having got from a dank street (sleet and rain) into a cozy room with a fireplace, we immediately relaxed and felt a warm feeling for this place ...

An hour later, our car was ready, but we still couldn't get ourselves out of the comfortable chairs of the restaurant. Our summary is this: This is a place with a great design and delicious cuisine... Awesome coffee! Perhaps one of the best in Polyana, at least. Lovely waiters. For the price, unfortunately, Moscow ...

La Campagne Restaurant

Unlike the previous establishment, this restaurant is located in a quiet street, so you won't accidentally get into it, and you only need to get there by taxi or by your own car. Those. you need to know exactly why to go there. And it's definitely worth going!

The first time I came to this restaurant, when it still belonged to a Frenchman and was called "Le chef". The restaurant is small and very cozy. The staff is helpful and friendly, the service is fast and unobtrusive (in a good sense of the word). Quality and choice of dishes at the level good restaurants large cities. The influence of French traditions was clearly felt ...

Unfortunately, after the change of the owner and the chef, the restaurant began, as it were, to average with other restaurants in Krasnaya Polyana, and the volume of the wine list was reduced. Despite this, La Campagne remains an ideal place (in my opinion) for a quiet, unhurried dinner in Krasnaya Polyana.

Tavern "Olympia" (or "Belly")

On the same quiet street Achishkhovskaya, above the Beshenka river, this quite cozy establishment was built. Its name is both true (there is the Olympia Hotel across the street, and the owner of these establishments seems to be the same)

From the pros: their territory is large, but at the same time fenced off from the road, with its own small embankment. You will sit and enjoy the murmur of the river and the singing of birds. And the magnificent breathtaking mountain views will be a bonus to all of the above.

There is an open terrace and a regular hall. The staff is very efficient, the waitresses are friendly.

Of the minuses: practically none. The only thing that, again, can only be reached by taxi or private car.

Well, friends, now you definitely will not go hungry, having arrived in Krasnaya Polyana.

It's time to continue the story about breakfasts in Krasnaya Polyana. The next location will be Esto-Sadok and Gorki Gorod. Mainly here guests of the resort have breakfast in hotels, but there are several alternative options. Below about them.

It is located in Esto-Sadok in the hotel of the same name, but this does not in the least prevent him from feeding the entire nearby district. On the menu, I found 8 different dishes for every taste, from which you can choose any two. And in addition they brought me toast with butter and jam and Matsesta green tea... But there were other drinks to choose from. The price for all one is 249 rubles. Additional advantages of breakfast at Romanovsky were a wonderful view from the panoramic windows of the Aibga and good service. In the morning they are fed from 7:30 to 10:30.

On the territory of the Gorki Gorod resort from 9:00 to 12:00 you can have breakfast at. I chose the most satisfying, from my point of view, pita scrambled dish with Greek feta, tomatoes and pepper for 390 rubles. The menu also included granola with Greek yogurt for 220 rubles, oatmeal with caramelized apples for 140 rubles, pancakes with sour cream for 150 rubles. and other traditional breakfast dishes.

The most creative breakfasts are offered, located right next to the main cable car of the Gorki Gorod resort. Here you can combine brunch with a master class on painting beautiful buildings with watercolors, which is held on Wednesdays and Saturdays by the Art Studio "Above the Clouds". Such a breakfast is ideal for creative people taking a short break from skiing from the mountains.

You can also take breakfast for 500 rubles. at the serving in the dining room of the Chalet at the very end of Esto Sadok or start the day with a good liver and coffee at Surf Coffee right next to the main lift.
