Cut the fish fillet into pieces with a side of about 2-3 cm.If you plan to bake the fish not in the shape, as suggested in our version of the recipe, but on a baking sheet, you can cut the fillet into large portions - about the size of your palm, and then cover it with all the remaining layers.

Place the fish fillet pieces tightly into the mold.

Season the fish with lightly salt and pepper.

Wash the potatoes with a brush under running water. Pat dry with paper towel and peel. Cut the potatoes into thin slices and place on top of the fish. Season with salt and pepper. Then, if the height of the mold allows, lay out another layer of potatoes. Season with salt and pepper again.

Wash carrots, like potatoes, with a brush under running water. Peel and grate on a coarse grater. Lay a layer of carrots on top of the potatoes in a mold.

Grate the cheese on a coarse grater. Place it on top of the carrots.

Grease the top cheese layer thickly with mayonnaise.

Preheat the oven to 180 ° C. Place the dish with pollock fillets and potatoes in the oven and bake for about an hour until the potatoes are tender and the top cheese crust is baked and browned.

You can, for example, add onion cut into thin rings as one of the layers, and replace mayonnaise with sour cream - this will make the dish lighter and more dietary.
