Andrey, how did you decide to become the host of a culinary show? Still, a man and a kitchen are not always compatible.

I can not cook. During the existence of the program, I have not really learned to cook, although my skills have improved significantly. Now I can at least professionally criticize poorly prepared food and I see errors in the technological process when I watch someone else cook from the sidelines 🙂.

But the host of the culinary show and the person who cooks in the frame are two different professions, and thank God that we have two different people in our program. The leading profession, of course, presupposes a genuine interest in the process of leading anything. But I love to eat and enjoy watching and observing people who do it professionally.

And when they told me that our chef was from Odessa ... Yes, I am 10 years older, but this does not prevent us from being in approximately the same sector of the world perception, to look at some things in the same way. I agreed with joy: let's do it, cool, great! You communicate with a person about everything in the world, you miss various culinary facts, and you eat six times a day - the dream of any man. I think my late grandmothers would be happy looking at me now: finally the boy is eating well 🙂.

You are two citizens of Odessa. It would seem that this is on the surface - to use the Odessa dialect: "You still make me nervous" and so on, but this is not.

Nobody talks like that in Odessa. It's just longing. And these would-be parodists cause endless despondency, thus representing my hometown. Therefore, even in my thoughts there was no such thing.

Before you met at Inter, did you know Andrei Dromov?

No. But, then it turned out that we have a lot of common acquaintances. Moreover, we have a lot in common in principle: we swam on the same beaches, walked along the same streets, talked with the same people, and experienced the same experience that we will go through without living in Odessa. during growing up, it is impossible. For example, an option when walking around school: you run to the sea, collect mussels, fry them and immediately burst them right on the beach.

When preparing to host the show, did you watch other programs or the work of other hosts?

No.

How do you prepare in principle?

I receive a script from our editorial office, when I visualize the process, I understand that somewhere I am missing a narrative block, I would like to add something else to the discussion of how to prepare food. And here sometimes my life experience helps to diversify the culinary history, sometimes - various sources of information, including the Internet.

Just two people in the frame for 40 minutes is a very demanding format for the people who are in this frame. Therefore, since it has already come out, then be so kind as to bear what is reasonable, kind, eternal, and do it in an interesting way.

At first there were a little more of you in the frame, Andrei was smaller.

Yes, but everything changes gradually. And when Andrey tells something, I listen with pleasure.

Do you read the reviews? Is there any kind of feedback?

I love talking to real people, I don't even have a Facebook account. And those with whom I communicate most often say: it's great that you are so alive and real. At many culinary shows, every effort is made to show how beautifully it is to show in rapidid how a tomato is cut, and how slowly a tear of a cut tomato flows through it, like in a commercial. We have live communication. Someone may like it, some may not.

Why can two men quarrel in the kitchen?

When we are in the frame for not an hour, not two, not five or even ten, when we are tired, then we can argue a little.

Once you said that it is impossible to carry out many projects at once, because you will not have enough strength for everything, you will not be able to do everything efficiently. How many projects do you have for Inter today?

Two. Love at First Sight and Cooking Together.

When you agreed to conduct "Love at First Sight", was there no doubt? The format is, of course, legendary ...

I will honestly say that when I heard that this format is being implemented, I thought: people will say that they took the old format out of naphthalene, again - into the same river, and so on. But it turned out that the magic of the format is that it is very much personified depending not only on who is leading it, but also on who is working on it, as a screenwriter, producer. Much depends on the participants who go out and sit in these very chairs and speak. The format is very free in terms of its management. This is a conversation of adults on a topic that worries everyone - the topic of relationships. And here you can turn around to the fullest.

Are there any other areas in which you would like to try yourself?

Travel. And, believe me, I have a story to tell.

How TV projects are born

The set, the permanent location of the “Cooking Together” program, at first had a different “residence permit”, and the scenery from the first episodes significantly differs from those in which the group is working now. Own territory means more room for maneuvers, and it is cheaper and more convenient.

Project manager Vitalia Formanchuk says that it is difficult to say which idea was approved first: to create a show or write a cookbook. It all started with the fact that the previous program, on which the project team was working, - "Neighbor for lunch," - ended, and Vitaly was offered to think about the idea of ​​another culinary show for "Inter". “I suggested doing something like“ Cooking Together ”even before“ A Neighbor for Lunch, ”says Vitalia Formanchuk.“ But then there were other tasks. I wanted a bright reality with a beautiful nature. But this project was seasonal, since half of the program was filmed on the street. In winter or in rainy weather, filming was not possible. Therefore, the management of the channel set a task: to develop a project that could be filmed all year round, regardless of the weather. This is where my old work came in handy. There were difficulties with the final approval of the presenters, because two men in the kitchen are not quite a familiar picture, there were some production issues that, thank God, have now been debugged. "

And one of these questions is moving and the need to rebuild new scenery. Previously, we rented a room and were squeezed into a certain framework, since we could not change anything. By the way, the new "kitchen" is quite nice, but purely home-style. At a time when the next dish of mushrooms is languishing in the oven, and the film crew, drooling, is patiently waiting for it to be cooked, we ask Andrey Dromov:

- Did you participate in the process of choosing kitchen equipment, dishes and other things?

- Is it convenient for you to work here? Are you used to other dishes, stoves, for example?

- I am comfortable. And the chef should have such a professional option: to quickly adapt to food preparation in any conditions. 🙂

Andrei Domansky is a well-known TV presenter, works for "Inter", and he has work experience, why is he - understandable, he can be interesting to talk about, probably, on any topic. And how did you find his co-host, the second Andrey, Dromov?

About the benefits of social networks

It turns out that the story began with the same notorious previous project "A Neighbor for Lunch", which was made in almost the same composition. And the chef was originally looked for there.

- On the project "Neighbor for Lunch" we found Andrey Dromov. I fell in love with this man at first sight, ”says the head of the Cooking Together project.

- Why? What did you see in him then so television, cool?

- The fact of the matter is that there was nothing television in it. Here it is itself textured, organic. Then a family with children took part in the casting, and a boy from this family simply fell in love with Andrey, and then, when other chefs came, he came up and asked: "Will Uncle Andrey still be back?" Then he compared everyone with “Uncle Andrey”. His organic, sincerity, naturalness and kindness won over. He didn’t play for the camera like many others did. He was simply Andrei Dromov. And I realized that the viewer will love this person.

- Did you immediately see Andrey Dromov and Andrey Domansky as presenters?
- Yes, we can say that the project was conceived for them. The only thing that scared me was how the two men would look in the kitchen, how the viewer would accept them. There were examples when one man, the presenter, cooked. Boris Burda, for example. But I did not doubt for a second that it would be very cool, because both Andrey are from Odessa and they have a common background, they have something to talk about, they are comfortable. This sparkling humor is born instantly. We removed the pilot and all doubts were dispelled.

Andrei Dromov himself describes the history of his appearance on TV as follows: “I saw information on Facebook that a casting is being held, we need chefs. And I thought: let me write. I sent a questionnaire, was invited to the casting. And the wife said: "Don't go, everything has probably already been bought and sold, the winner has been determined." I even had a little fight with her, but I went. Casting passed. I remember that we went out into the street, and the head of our show said: “I don’t know what the management will decide, but personally I found my chef, it’s you. We will call you back in two or three days, we will tell you the result. " And if you only knew how long these two or three days dragged on while I was waiting for the call. As they say, the expectation of death is worse than death itself. When they called back, they said: you are suitable for us, to be honest, I was shocked. "

- How do you at work feel about the fact that their chef is hosting a TV program?

- First they rejoice, they say: “Great!”, And then problems arise. Everyone wants the chef to be there all the time. Because of this, I left the Columbus restaurant, where I worked before. But I go to shoot on my weekends. I have one day off a week, I am leaving for Kiev. Then I return from Kiev - and again to work, - says Dromov.

Today, Andrey Dromov still has a little bit of a problem with the weekend, as he still works in a restaurant and on TV, wandering between Odessa and Kiev. Yes, they began to recognize him on the street. But he also learned to sleep on buses - it is not always possible to catch the train. However, according to his work on the site, you cannot say that a person is literally from the ship to the ball. Already - professionalism. However, we will talk about the nuances of the profession with him a little later.

Seasonality and the main Ukrainian product

On the one hand, making a culinary project seems to be simple: good presenters loved by the audience, interesting recipes, a good studio, operator, sound, editing. But is it so simple when in parallel, in direct competition, there is a project of STB TV channel "Everything will be tasty", which already has an audience, and the same light, sound, studio - everything is of good quality. And the devil, as usual, is in the details. For example, if you don't just cook something tasty, but also do it according to the audience's recipes? It clings after all. And if you also publish later a book of these recipes with photographs not only of the hosts and dishes, but also of their authors?

- Have you reviewed other culinary projects in order to gain impressions? - we ask Vitalina Formanchuk, who, as it turned out, is not only the project manager, but also the author of the idea of ​​the Inter's culinary show.

- No. I have a clear rule. I never watch anything. There are a million culinary formats. If you start watching them, then in the end you will automatically have some kind of crutches, and you will begin to involuntarily involve them in your project. When I presented the project on the TV channel, I told my boss Anton Vladimirovich Nikitin [editor-in-chief of the Inter TV channel, - approx.Mediasat ] : you understand, it's like a cookbook, when grandmothers collected recipes, cuttings, all this was glued into notebooks. This will be a program about healthy, inexpensive and tasty food, but always with a beautiful restaurant presentation, since Andrey Dromov is a professional chef. He says: “Cool! Can we really write a cookbook? " In this vein, the graphics for the program were developed, there is a cookbook in the intro, and we keep reminding: “write it down”, and we also have a board for writing recipes and real letters from viewers with recipes that we cook in our kitchen. So everything fell into place, and the project was not only born as a television format, but also went beyond television.

- Do you send a lot of recipes?

- They write a lot, but the choice is difficult. We had options when we received a recipe for a potentially cool dish from the viewer, but it needed to be improved a little. And I wrote to this viewer: "Thank you very much, but would you mind if we replace this product in the recipe with another?"

- Scrupulous. And, as usual, do they easily agree?

- Basically, everyone agrees. And we cannot but ask, because these people are the authors of the recipes. There are touching moments when they write to us not e-mails, but paper letters. That's just Sunday [past - approx.Mediasat ] the program "Cheese Dishes" was aired.

A 75-year-old woman wrote a letter to us with authentic recipes, she is the great-great-granddaughter of the Georgian prince. But, since we already had a program about Georgian cuisine, we made a program about cheese in order to cook Georgian achma according to her recipe.

The guys tried very hard. Dromov was really preparing an achma for the first time, the first layer of the text was torn, it was collected in pieces. It's all alive. And we showed the whole process on the air, without trying to hide that something did not work out. Everything is real with us, like in a reality show.

- What other types of force majeure are there?

- A lot of things happen. There was a situation when the two of them crashed to the floor, because Andrey Dromov spilled vegetable oil. There was a moment when the soup burst out of the blender like a fountain, and it was boiling water. Or when they have almost cooked bell pepper soup, and then a glass pan bursts right on the stove. I had to cook everything in a new way.

- Do you attract food stylists?

- Yes, we have a food stylist, she is very talented, and thanks to her, our products look so beautiful in the frame.

- You stated that this is a show, which is created according to the principle of the relevance of dishes. How is the theme of the program chosen?

- Basically, we adhere to the principle of seasonality. If at the moment we have a harvest of apples, then we prepare dishes from apples. If there are any important holidays - March 8, Easter, - appropriate dishes, for example, Easter. If there is neither seasonality nor holidays, then we prepare dishes of some national cuisine or dishes from one product, which is available all year round. The main criteria: accessibility (so that a person, if not all three, then at least one of the dishes could afford to cook) and the most understandable products for everyone.

- What is the target audience of the project?

- At the moment, we are going almost on a par with TV viewing in all Inter audiences. Young people are watching us, as well as middle-aged and older people.

- In what schedule do you work?

- One shooting day - two programs. Preparing for a week. This - when the script was written, it was disassembled, all the ingredients were agreed and they found where to buy. Because it happens that we change some products. Andrey Dromov, in my opinion, is a genius and an artist. At his restaurant, Dromov prepares complex dishes, including molecular cuisine, and sometimes he includes some very complex products in the recipe, but this is all crossed out. He sometimes asks: well, please, well, let's add this, but we say "no" and that's it. He has to deal with simple things here, and at first it was difficult for him, but then he got used to it.

Perhaps we have come to a moment when all production issues have been settled, and we realized that this is a thrill. You go to work and expect that now something will be interesting, we will cook something delicious. Again, 10 hours of laughter is guaranteed, and they will also give you tasty food. I think it's not work, but happiness.

Today a total of about 25 people are working on the project. These are not only those who are on the site, but everyone, including post-production and administrators. And the rating program itself, in any case, according to the lively reaction of the audience, not only on the screens, but also on social networks, was a program about potatoes. Therefore, we made another program about young potatoes, thought about it and included it in our plan for the future - to make a program about festive potato dishes.

In between the preparation of mushroom dishes, the project's chef Andrey Dromov answered a few more questions from Mediasat.

Andrey, What were your first impressions when you saw yourself on the air?

Cool. I can say that not only me, but also the whole family, friends, acquaintances had full impressions. But at first he found fault with himself - he turned around the wrong way, said, sat down, the wrong intonation sounded. For a long time I could not get used to my voice in the recording. It seemed to creak somehow. Now I watch the first and last programs and I see that I have changed, I already feel better. Yes, and there are already dear people around, with whom you have been working not for the first day.

Did they try to poach you?

I'm not going anywhere. You can't do that, it's a betrayal.

Do you come across reviews of the program? How do you react?

It happens that they write nasty things, I once read comments on Facebook after the New Year's program "Ogonyok" on "Inter". There was a wave of negativity under our photo with Andryusha, where we in New Year's caps with glasses of champagne congratulated all Ukrainians on the New Year. There are four hundred comments to her, and about 150 of them are unflattering both in relation to Inter and in relation to us.

But mostly good things are said about the transfer. You meet people, come up on the street, say: "Cool!" And it motivates. You go into some institution - a shop, a restaurant, and people are so apprehensive: “Can I take a picture with you?”. Yes, of course you can! It's so cool!

Tell me, during my presence in the studio, you manage to stir something in a saucepan, turn it over, bake it and stay clean. How?

And we fail. We just have a magical person who deals with clothes. And he gets everything - cherries, blood, currants, beets, the pollution was very heavy. It was such that the first set was already soiled, put on the second, and then I managed to try jam, which, of course, dripped onto the tunic. I had to immediately wash and dry everything with a hairdryer.



Is it difficult for you to work together in the same kitchen?

Easily. Andryusha and I had already made friends at the "Neighbor for Lunch" and worked normally. And now everything in general somehow started very easily, sometimes we even, frankly, did not have time to learn the script, we just understood what the topic of the program was and, thanks to Andrey's crazy intellect and sense of humor, and my culinary knowledge, left.

But if everyone thinks now that I am lazy, then this is not so. There is just a lot of work at home, although working on television is always a priority, there are a lot of new people, information and knowledge here. It happens that, starting to write a recipe, you realize that you cannot do it as usual and come up with something completely new, something that you have never done anywhere else.

In each program, you compare how much it will cost to prepare a meal at home and its restaurant cost. Do you think at Odessa prices or at Kiev prices?

According to Kiev, because the purchase of products takes place in Kiev. The cost of cooking at home is Kiev, and the restaurant price, perhaps, is still Odessa.

How do you prepare for the show?

On Monday shooting, on Tuesday I am going to Odessa, on Wednesday we have to determine what dishes we cook, then we work with recipes.

In preparation, I need not only to work with the recipes myself, but also to prepare both the scriptwriters and the guys who help with the purchase of inventory. You write the recipe, then describe how long each stage of cooking takes. And also - what kind of inventory and products will be needed. Then you come up with a very clear, delicate balance between simple products and interesting presentation. I had to work very hard with speech, and this process is not completed, because, as a purebred Odessa citizen, I have my own dialect, I very often swallow, chew some sounds, which is bad for television. But they have already begun, it seems, to get used to who I am.
